FIBRE BOARD MILL.
FOREST PRODUCTS' PROJECT. EARLY START EXPECTED. A decision to proceed with the installation of a fibre board mill designed to supply the requirements of the New Zealand market, together with some export trade, if suitable outlets are available, was announced by Mr. D. Henrv, chairman of New Zealand Forest Products. Limited, at the annual meeting. It is understood that the mill will probahly be at Tokoroa or Waotu. Of necessity it must he near a strea.jn and there are several sites available in that district. A large number of men will be emjployeiL at the mill,, which will probably be eetabfisheik, «ouie time in March. A license tiß manufacture fibre board has 4>een obtained and sawmilling activities also will be undertaken. The company hc,i>es to build up local and overseas markets for the various classes of timber that the forests produce. An initial outlay of approximately £350,000 will be called for and activities will be added to from time to time as part of a comprehensive plan to develop a variety of manufacturing industries. At the present time the company has a small mill at Waotu, but for some weeks no timber has been sent out. The timber at present milled will be needed for the company for its own use.
