Popular And Lucky!

To be popular is something, but to be lucky with it' is to be doubly blessed. And so are two students of the Katikati District High School, Madelyn Pye and Kenneth Whyte, who are at present spending a holiday in Auckland because of that fact. The story began a year ago when Mr. F. W. Doidge, M.P., was visiting t'he school for the prize giving. He offered two new prizes, to be awarded to the most popular boy and most popular girl in the school, to be elected by the pupils. Madelyn and Ken won the honour, and now they are enjoying their prize a holiday in Auckland as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Doidge. Yesterday they boarded a big liner for the first time, visitfed a newspaper office and did other interesting things. Each day they plan their own programme. Incidentally, the reason why the prize was a visit to Auckland was that there were Tew children in the school who had ever seen a big city.
