FURLONG HANDICAP RACE. HANAN FAILS TO CONCEDE PASCOE FOUR SECONDS. Chief interest at the Waitemata Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club's first carnival last night was the race between Peter Hanan, the national furlong titleholder, and Alan Tascoe in a heat of the open 220 yards event. With a start of four seconds I'ascoe was too good for the champion and covered the distance in 2.24 3-5. Neither was placed in the final.
