SOME GOOD EFFORTS. HUNTER'S ROSE AND NIGHTBEAM. The course proper, on which the polee W l ei Sn out , was available for fast work at JMlerehe this morning and there was also some galloping on No. 3 grass. Light showers fell and the going was on the easy side> Pile best effort** of the morning were those of Pasture, Lady Acushla and Bronze Emerald over half a mile, and Hunter t Rose and Nightbeam over five furlongs. The Course Proper. British Talent (Treniain) jumped away > six-furlong pout and came home in I—4 2-5, the last five taking 1.10 2-5.

Tristram Shandj/ (Gilchrist), after running his first furlong in 13s, completed four in 54 3-ss. Knight of Australia (Cammick) and Gay Broney (Markwick) were sent a round, which was completed in 2.11 1-5. Aero Queen (Tremain) joined in at the six-furlong post and covered the last five in 1.10. She was in front of Gay Broney at the end, with Knight of Australia several lengths awav. Silver Quex (Gilchrist) and Poland (Cammick), after running their first two furlongs in 26 2-os, got to the end of five in 1.8 4-o. There was nothing between tbeni at the end. Lady Acushla (Markwick) was doing better than Bronze Emerald (Messervy) at the finish of half a mile in *52 3-ss, the first furlong taking 12 4-ss. Beeswing (Cameron) moved nicely while completing five furlongs in 1.8. Royal Appellant (Ken-) and Blight Idea (Buchanan) were sent a mile, the former being about a neck in froht at the end in 1.50, the last half mile taking 58s. Calula Boy ran three furlongs in 38 l-ss, while Hunter's Rose, after running her first two furlongs in 255, got to.the end of five in 1.5 —a good effort. Royal Abb (Markwick) covered a mile in 1.48 2-5, the last three furlongs in 41 2-sw. Kelly (Gilchrist), Valmint (Fearn) and Tea Gong (Murray) went a mile in 1.49, the last half taking 55 4-ss. There was not much between tliem at the end and all worked well. Royal Descent traversed three furlongs in 395, while Maioro (Cameron) ran 'half a mile in 565.

Ivy Witlonyx's Round.

Right Royal (Green) and Land Girl (Messervy) were on terms at the end of seven furlongs in 1.40, the former pleasing most. Brazilian (Green) appeared to be doing better than Auburn Lad (Messervy) at the finish of six furlongs in 1.22 2-5, Hutana (Tremain) taking 1.22 4-5. Ivy Willonyx (Green) was sent a round, being picked up at the six furlong post by Sir Cameron (Messervy). They finished practically on terms, Ivy Willonyx running the full distance in 2.17, doing her work well. Erination took 1.41 for seven furlongs, while Armacourt (Cameron) ran half a mile in 53 3-ss, after taking 12 4-5s for the first furlong. Loombination (Tremain) covered five furlongs in 1.8 3-5. Biddy Girl - (Fearn) and Whenua (Parsons), after taking 14 l-5s for the first furlong, ran five in 1.6 4-5. They finished on terms and both could have done better. Pasture* (Murray) was going _ easily alongside Bournemouth (Cammick) at the end of half a mile in 52 1-s®—the best of the morning over the distance. Happicoat (Messervy) ran five furlongs easily in 1.13 2-5. Golden Bonnet was too good for Beverley and Sebrof at the finish of five furlongs in 1.6, the first two taking 265. Ringshot (Gilchrist) and Melvanui (Dowrick) were together at the end of seven furlongs in 1.39, the last half mile.in 565. Both could have done better. Night beam (Messervy) beat Night Pilot (Gilchrist) over five furlongs in 1.5 after running the first one in 12 4-ss. The former was very impressive. ' Mon Acre 'Gilchrist) finished a length in front of Odtaa (Messervy) at thu end of six furlongs in 1.20 4-5, the last half mile in 53 4-ss. No. 3 Grass. On No. 3 grass track Grey Wings (Buchanan) and Ballivor (Kerr) ran three furlongs in 435, while Mintlaw (Gilchrist) pleased by getting to the end of half a* mile in 50 2-ss. Hinehau took 1.5 1-5 for five furlongs. Te Rongo (Parsons) and Baldric (Neil), after running their first furlong in 13 l*ss, covered half a mile in 53s^ Agog (Green) taking 57s for a similar

Melvanui (Dowrick) and Orient Dawn (Ritchie) gave a good display over four hurdles, both jumping well.
