MR. J. A. LEE UPHELD.

SOME POINTED SPEAKING.
Sides wore taken, and there was some pointed speaking at a meeting of the Auckland Labour Representation Committee held last evening at the Labour Club rooms, to consider an article published by Mr. J. A. Lees M.P., in a C'hristehurch magazine on the invalidism of political leaders. After a discussion, which lasted nearly four hours, a motion objecting to tin? article, and recommending that the matter should be referred to the national executive of the Labour party, was rejected, and by 109 votes to 85, an amendment was carried upholding Mr. Lee's action, ami expressing complete confidence in him and in the Prime Minister, the Rfc. Hon. M. J. Savage.
After the object of the meeting had been explained by the chairman, Mr. J. Sayegli, the president of the Labour Representation Committee, addresses were given by Mr. Lee, and others prominent in the Auckland Labour movement. When the vote was taken, the result waft announced by Mr. Sayegh.
No official statement has been made regarding the meeting, but it was hinted in Auckland Labour circle* this morning that there would probably be further discuMion* on the matter when the Easter conference of the Labour party was held at Wellington. Mr. Sayegh said this morning that he could not comment on the meeting. Mr. Lee also said he had no statement to make.
