DUBLIN, December 27.
Dublin was ringed with steel from dawn, as the military tightened its cordon in order to ascertain the whereabouts of the 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition stolen from the Phoenix Park magazine by I.R.A. members in week-end. Armoured cars patrolled the roads and troops examined every passing vehicle. They found one quarter of a ton of the missing ammunition hidden at Wicklow, from which tke search extended to Kildare, Carlow and Kilkenny, while Government agents investigated suspected houses in Dublin. Nine members of the magazine guard have been detained pending conclusion of the inquiry, and five suspects have been remanded in connection with the raid. A drive against members of the I.R.A. has been launched in Belfast, but no arrests have yet beei made

(Received 2 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 27. It is announced that France is the greatest purchaser of United States arms and munitions in November, licenses totalling 95,579,000 dollars, Britain 14,970,000, Australia 4,170,000, Canada 1,280,000, Norway 600,000 and Finland 13,000. The actual shipments to France totalled 2,149,000 and Britain 701,000. •'
