WELLINGTON", this day. Sentence of seven days' imprisonment was imposed on George Hayes Powell (20), of Alfred town, a tractor driver, for intoxication in charge of a car. He' was prohibited from driving for a year. He was stopped after entering Weiljngtou. Two of the thre i other occupants of the car were also intoxicated. To a plea that it was just a "bit of a Christmas spree," the magistrate, Mr. W. F. Stillwell, replied that the case was just the kind the Act was particularly designed to prevent.
