GAY FROCKING AT ELLERSLIE.

Summer Ensembles Are Vivid And Bright.

The 'heavy black cloud which hung over the city early this morning threatened. the fashion parade which always heralds the opening of the Auckland Racing Club's summer carnival, but with its passing after a shower or two out came the sun, and out, too, came the lovely summer models;. Despite a few pessimistic umbrellas the f roc-king at Kllerslie was particularly gay, vivid colouring being an important feature of this season's gowns. Gipsy stripes and gay floral patterns in large and smaller designs were popular; and the absence, of the duller onecolour ensembles was noticeable. Accessories, too. sihowed the new trend towards brighter tones, and some very attractive colour contrasts were to be seen.
