THE "MERRY WIDOW."
AUSTRALIAN ACTRESS. The original "Merry Widow" played a brief visit to Auckland to-day when the Australian actress, Carrie Moore, who has made her name famous on the English stage, arrived in the Mariposa. Carrie Moore first played the part in London, then came to Australia where her "Merry Widow" created a furore.
In November of last year, Carrfie Moore appeared with Sir Seymour Hicks, Irene Vanbrugh and Mabel Love in a Command Performance 'before the King and Queen in "Me and My Girl" at the Colosseum Theatre. "It was a fine compliment, for I had been absent from the English stage for 20 years, and I was the only visiting artist in the play," she said to-day.
Carrie Moore, who has lost none of the charm that has endeared her to the Australian public since she first appeared as the "Merry Widow" and "Florodora" ie returning to her homeland after a lengthy visit to Hollywood, where she attended the wedding of Billie Burke's daughter. Biliie Burke and Carfie Moore /were principal girl and principal boy in "Aladdin.* , Because she was in the United States as a visitor, Misa Moore was , unable to accept the part of the English society woman in the film "Rebecca," but she intends to return on the Australian quota in July to do movie work. She was met at Auckland by her sister, Mise Eva Moore, veil known producer of amateur plays, who is living in Wellington.
