PEAK OF RUSH.
CHRISTMAS POSTING.
LETTERS AND PARCELS.
RECORD 1 DISTRIBUTION.
The peak of the Christmas rush was experienced at the Chief Post Office and Auckland suburban post offices to-day, with a record quantity of letters and parcels for distribution. This year the card of greeting appears to be more in evidence than usual, but judging by many small parcels, the giving of presents eeems to be just as popular as in other years. This morning there was a very heavy mail from the South, and an equally large southern mail ia. expected tomorrow. Auckland postmen will make a start at 5.0 a.m. both to-morrow morning and 011 Saturday, and it will be a late hour on both days before they get through their rounds. Letters and parcels have to be eortcd into various districts, and then into "walks." Then delivery is ready to be started. To-morrow will probably be a busy day for the telegraphic branch of the Department, as many people will be dispatching greetings to their friends.
