Silver Quex (Gilchrist) completed five furlongs in 1.5, her last half mile beine covered in 52 l-ss. Looks Improved. Cintrace (M<*»ervy) had an advantage over Spinning Wheel (Murray) after traversing six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, the last three taking 39 l-ss. It was a good effort on the part of Cintrace, who looks all tlie better for his racing at Whangarei. Ivy Willonyx (D. Green) and Royal Huntress {Bruce) were companions over .i round, tlie former finishing well in trout, after running the distance in 2.11 1-5. The last six furlongs took 1.21, and the final half mile 52 2-ss. The two-year-old Niuhtlieaill (( iiallender) strode over three furlongs in 39 3-3s without being seriously bustled. lea (Jong (Messervy) and The Trimmer I Bruce) shaded C'aurnie (McGrath) after traversing six furlongs in 1.10 3-5, the first three being covered in 395. Beverley (Sinton) and Summary (Murray) came home from the half mile post in 50 4-ss. They ran the first furlong in 12 4-ss, and there was little between them at the post. Happieoat (Gilchrist) ran three furlongs in company with Oiltaa (Cameron) in 37 3-ss. They went from the six to the three furlong post, and Odtaa continued on, but was easing up at tlie end of six in 1.26 4-5. The hurdler. Bisrpiit (W. Thomson) occupied 53 2-5s for half a mile, and Digger •Tim (Fergus), who went away from a barrier start, completed half a mile in 53 3-ss. Horses at the Barrier. Several horses were given barrier practice at the seven furlong post. They included Auburn Lad, the Posterity— Mirabellc 11. colt, Digger Jim, Golden Bonnet, Grey Eagle and Water Hound. When they were let go Digger Jim, Auburn Lad and the Posterity colt began best. Digger Jim was eased tip after going a short distance, and the other pair ran their first two furlongs in 25 2-ss. three in 38 4-ss. and half a mile in 525. It was a very promising trial. On the Tan. Armacourt (Cameron) and Royal Message (Hearn) ran five furlongs in l.fi 4-5, the last half mile being completed in 52 2-ss. Royal Message had a shade the better of it. Francis Drake (Farrell) was running on at the end of half a mile in 52 1 -ss, and Konneta (Holland) finished up a useful task by running her last three furlongs in 44 l-ss. Over a similar distance Gay Bell (Messerv.v) took 41 2-ss, and Knight of Australia (Ritchie) 41 3-ss. Aero King was given pace work on this track. The Jumpers. Beverley (Sinton) jumped a couple of pony hurdles safely, and was afterwards sent over four of the bigger ones. He made no mistakes, but did not have a great amount of pace on. Whenua (Sinton) gave a safe display over four hurdles, and afterwards ran five furlongs on the course proper in 1.8 2-5. Ringshot (Williams) and Royal Abb (Ritchie) were responsible for an excellent school over four hurdles. Ringshot impressed by his dashing exhibition. Tuatara. winner of the Trial Stakes at Stratford last Saturday, is a three-year-old chestnut fielding by Lord Quex from Tuata Maid. He is therefore a halfbrother to Lavina. who won a number of sprint races at the southern meetings a few year* ago.
