AT CARLAW PARK.
LUMLEY MEMORIAE MEETENG,
The fourteenth annual sports meeting at Catlaw Park next Saturday promises to] be full of entertainment by the interest displayed at the dress rehearsal, when some of the preliminary heats in the running events were decided. Ihe performances by the girls of the Auckland Girls' Athletic Association indicated that keen competition and a high standard can be expected. The judges of the preliminary drill contest report that a good standard of efficiency has been reached by the competing teams and they should have difficult task in choosing the winners. These drills are the modern Swedish drills especially suitable for women and are quite spectacular. The teams owe much to their captains, whose enthusiasm and coaching been of real assistance to the director of training, Mr. K. C. Reid.
A new cup has been given to the association by the girls themselves, to be called the Lumley Memorial Cup, in memory of the Lumley sisters, who were both members of the association. The honour to have their team's name engraved as the first winners will mean the girls giving of their beet.
Another popular event on the programme will be the competition for the title of "Miss A.G.A.A." Kac'n team has selected representatives and the competition will be judged on general deportment and neatness in figure and appearance.
The Waterside Silver Build will provide music for drill and marching. and will also play items during the afternoon.
