"ALADDIN."
SUCCESSFUL DANCE RECITAL.
A riot of Eastern splendour and the perfume of incense greeted the large audience that attended the performance of "Aladdin" given by Madam Rujinc and her pupils in the Lewis Eady Hall last evening. The beautiful scenes, exquisite costumes, and unique artistry in classical and humorous dances comprised the programme, each number being received with well-deserved appreciation.
In the role of princess, Madam Rujine wore many exotic costumes, but outstanding was her silver cloth Eastern attire, embroidered in jewels, sequins and gold fringe. The green goddess, played by Miss Annette Kenyon, wore green and gold lame, with huge fantastic headdress; Miss Betty Renny as "Slave of the Ring" was a striking figure in lilac tinsel lame, heavily inset with pearls; Miss F. Stark as "The Firebird," was in scarlet and gold, with flame draperies; Miss. M. Sullivan, "Mother of Aladdin," wore Chinese pink brocade trousers and sapphire bljie embroidered Mandarin coat; Mr. .John Rollo, as "Aladdin," was in a brilliant costume of silver, inset with emeralds and crystal. Ihe various ballets were a feant of •olour and glamour and represented Chinese, Indian and all the Eastern costumes well known in old-fashioned pantomime.
