GISBORNE MEAT PRICES.
BUTCHERS SEEK REVISION. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") GISBORNE, this day. In view of increasing costs and the high price of fat stock, Gisborne butchers are faced with the necessity for revising their retail schedules, but have not been able to secure the sanction of the Price Fixation Tribunal. Gisborne meat prices, it is stated, are considerably below those in Auckland. Auckland retail rates increased 1 on October 16, following the rise in the price of fat stock. A difference from 2d to 3d per pound exists between Gisborne and Auckland retail prices. Stock prices in the Gipborno district are slightly lower than those in Auckland, but are above normal, -particularly beef, which averagecl out at approximately 37/6 per 1001b foi cow and heifer station beef.
