BROKE GAME LAWS.
YOUNG FARMHAND FINED (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, this day. On a sunny day in June Arnold Collett, a 2<j-year-old farmhand, with all the tradition of Daniel Boone. set out with a pearirle to Otway Estate, Te Aroha, on a hunting expedition. The result was a couple of shots at a grey duck, a liomily on the evils of taking native game delivered by a ranger employed by the Acclimatisation Society, and a summons. He appealed iu the Te Aroha. Police Court to-day and pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawfully taking native game, to wit, grey duck. An officer of the Acclimatisation Society, prosecuting, siiid the offence was very serious and hard to detect. "You should know better than this." said the magistrate to Collett. Collett was fined i-o and costs £1 0/li.
