VERDICT OF "NOT GUILTY."

WELLINGTON, Tuesday.

After a retirement of just over half an hour a jury in the Supreme Court to-day acquitted Herbert Swain, taxi driver, of Carterton, of failing to stop after an accident last July. The defence was that by the time the other car had stopped it was obscured by a bend, and accused, who had slowed down with the intention of stopping, was told by a passenger that the other vehicle had continued.
