MKMNESS RATHER QUIET.

GOVERNMENT STOCKS WANTED.

Business was far from brisk on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning, although there was a sound inquiry for a wide rungo of securities. Demand was keenest for Government stocks, with fresh business at recent advances, and buyers raising their offers for several popular iseucs. Among Australian industrials Broken Hill Proprietary, Colonial Sugars and Electrolytic Zincs were very firm, and W ooiwortlis (Sydney) rose sharply to sel' at 24, and 24 3.
