ANNUAL MEETING TO-NIGHT.
EARNEST PRAYER FOR PEACE.
An earnest prayer that peace and goodwill to men will soon prevail is expressed in the annual report of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association, which will be presented by the president, Mr. John B. Paterson. at the annual meeting in the Magistrate's Court to-night. "At the close of last year membership was 630," states the report. "Since then 47 new members have been added, and, allowing for deaths and transfers to other centres, the roll number now stands at 663. which includes 35 lady members."
The financial statement shows a more favourable position than last year, the report continues, the association's credit being £294. an increase of £38 10/. During the recent control of motor spirit the association was asked to supply members for the purpose of taking declarations from applicants at the Chief Post Office. Several members filled the gap stated the report. ,
