REMOVAL OF SILT.

TRANSPORT BOARD OBJECTS. J Though prot««ting against the charge oh the grounds that it was "inequitable," the Auckland Transport Board at to-day's meeting decided to pay to the Auckland City Council the sum of £40, the charge for removing silt taken from tramway points for the years 11)38 and 1939. It was pointed out in a report submitted by the secretary, Mr. C. R. Cribble, that the charge was inequitable, particularly in view of the fact that the amount paid as rates on the tracks had increased from £2942 for 1933 to £3441 for 1940. He recommended that tlie matter be taken up with the Auckland City Council with a view to having the "charge remitted. I The report was adopted.
