QUALITY OF MILK.
SATISFACTORY POSITION.
! The quality of milk for the month of ' | Alienist had again been satisfactory, i I stated a report submitted to the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council at its ' meeting to-day by the technical adviser t<. the council. Mr. W. C. Neil. 1 The fat content had also been satis- ' factory, but six shops had given fat [ contents below the standard of 3.5 per cent, this apparently being due to lack ' of stirring. Two milk bars also had fat ' content below standard, and the necesI sarv instructions were given. There were a number of farmers sending milk with | solids, not fat contents, below the stan- , dard of 8.5 per cent. This was chiefly . due to shortage of feed and also to , young grass with high water content. It was expected that this trouble would f disapi>ear in two or three weeks. In a separate report, Mr. Xeil said ; the- production of milk had been increasing fairly steadily.
