COMMITTEE MEETS.

FUNDS NECESSARY,

The monthly mooting of the committee of the Plunket Society was held at headquarters on Wednesdiiv. The president, .Mrs J. C. Allan, was" in the chair. -Miss Johnson, acting charge nurse read the monthly report of the work carried out from headquarters. In the pre-natal section <52 mothers were seen for the first time, 3»3 return visits were paid to the department, 229 expectant mothers were under supervision. In the post-natal department, 249 new baby cases had been seen, 1374 visits were paid to homes and 11,349 mothers and babies had visited the various offices. Miss S. Lusk, matron of the Truby King Karitane Hospital, reported that motheis and 31 babies had been admitted during the month. All sections of the hospital had been particularly busy, Jhe admission of 14 premature babies had resulted in admission having to be refused to several other babies from town and countrv.

The following donations were gratefully received: Orakei subcommittee £2 2/ to tlie Trilby King Memorial Fund, £1 1/ to the increase in staff fund, Onehunga £4 4/ to the Truflby King Memorial Fund and £5 to increase in staff fund, Avondale £5 to increase in staff fund. A donation of £10 was received through the executors of the estate of the late Mr. Thomas Edmund Smith, for the Nursing Mothers' Fund. Mrs. H. M. Barnes and Mrs. P. McClatcliie were appointed to the committee. Mrs. McClatchie, who was present, was warmly welcomed.

The matter of finance was again before the committee. In view of the present situation when it was felt the importance of caring for mothers and babies might be lost sight of, members were urged to keep before them the necessity for raising funds to carry on this work which is now of more Importance than ever. It was decided that each member of the committee be responsible for some individual effort to raise funds.
