FLOWER DISPLAY.
MOUNT ALBERT SHOW.
WIDE VARIETY OF BLOOMS
From the lordly daffodil to the modest but ever-beautiful violet, spring flowers from scores of gardens transformed Kin;? Edward Hall into a •place of %eauty today, when the Mount Albert Horticultural Society opened its annual show. All the newest developments in the spring flower world were there. The naicissi family were conspicuous in all their {ilory. from the paperwhites with their delicate pallor to the deep golden-tinted sol d'ors, in the jonquil section, and the dainty poeticus and leedsii anions those attractive first cousins, the daffodils. In other parts of the hall poppies, stocks, ireesias, ranunculi, anemones, early sweet peas and wallflower competed for attention, their respective charms attracting the admiration of those amateur gardeners present who despaired of ever producing such blooms in their own Entries in the daffodil section were better than last year and the cut flowers display was trood, considering the season. In the decorative section there were fewer entries, but they were of a higher standard. Judfres were: —Daffodils, open and intermediate sections. Mr. X. R. W. Thomas: novice, Mr. K. -I.
