AUSTRALIAN 1914 WIN RECALLED. NEW YORK, September 5. It ia stated that no Davis Cup competition "will be held until the end of the war. The Associated Press dwells on the drama of the final, recalling the victory of Xoimnn Rrookes (Melbourne) and Anthony Wilding (Christchurch) in similar circumstances in 1914. It pays a tribute to the Australians, not only as the better, but also as the gamer team, and the- first in history to win after losing the first two rubbers. The opinion Is expressed that the United States faces a tremendous task in regaining the cup on the fast Australian courts. The Australian Lawn Tennis Association iias cabled congratulations to the Davis Cup team and al«o the manager, H. 0. Hopman, for winning the Davie Cup in sensational and difficult circumstances. The team has been instructed to return to Australia as soon as possible.
