TAXATION AND DEBT.

I- was greatly disappointed to find the second letter of your correspondent F. Allen fall so far short of what I had reason to expect. He continues to beat about the bush —with a side slap or two at Socialists and Communists—and carefully avoids touching the real culprit, human greed. War, taxation, debt, etc., are the direct descendants of greed, and to deal with them directly and effectively greed must be attacked in such a way as to make its many practices unprofitable. Incidentally, our anti-Socialist friend is far from the mark in concluding that my conversion to Socialism is recent; it is now many long years since I reasoned much as he does, saw the error of my ways, and grasped the great advantages of more direct and more brief methods of thought and attack as put forth in the teachings of Socialism. My challenge stands. GEO. A. HARPER.
