J he story of a wild ride at 70 miles per hour on a motor cycle wan related by Traffic Inspector Xowell in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when Wallace Haig Spencer (23), a photographer, appeared before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a ear in Gladstone Koad 011 August 2<i. Accused pleaded guilty to intoxication, but not guilty to a further charge of driving in a manner dangerous to the public. Inspector Xowell eaid accused crossed the Koebuck Road intersection at ">0 m.p.li. and continued on up Gladstone Koad. Witness paid bis motor cycle had to reach a speed of 70 m.p.li. before it could overtake accused's car. Witness drove accused's car to the police station, where it was found to contain a jar and two bottles of beer. "There are 110 mitigating circumstances in your case," said Mr. Luxford, "and you will be sentenced to one month's imprisonment." Accused's present license was cancelled and he was prohibited front obtaining another for twelve months. On the dangerous driving charge accused was convicted and discharged.
