ROTARY IDEALS.

FUTURE POLICY DISCUSSED. INCOMING PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club held in Milne and Choyce's reception hall last evening, the newly-elected president, Rotarian C. K. ♦ iriersnn. s ;J id that in the dark days that lay before them the spirit of friendship and understanding which was the foundation of Rotary would mean more to them than ever.

"It will not I>p possible in the natural order of things for many of us to serve in the fighting forces —or to take any active part in the prosecution of the war.'' he said. "However, there are for all of us jobs to be done, and to these tasks 1 trust as far ai* is practicable the efforts of the club will be devoted. 1 think members will agree that at this stage no financial commitments in regard to community efforts should be entered into by the club. It seems obviou* that we should conserve our resources in order that >vhen the need does arise, we will be in a j>o*ition to put, forward our maximum effort."

The adoption of the president's report was seconded by ex-President Rotar.ian \Y. E. Lewisham, supported by Kotarian ,7. Kwen, and unanimously adopted.

Oflieeix for the ensuing year are as follow:—President, Mr. C. K. Crierson; vice-)>resident, Mr. F. M. Winstone; honorary secretary, Mr. R. T. Postles; honorary treasurer, Mr. W. F. FowkU: ]ionorary auditor, Mr. F. G. Baskett; directors, Messrs. A. (J. Menzies, W. C'alder Maekay, (J. W. Spragg and the Rev. A. C. Nelson.

Subsequent to the meeting members and their wives were entertained at the Tudor Cinema. as guests of Kotarian Phil Havward. The president stated that the annual Rotarimi Church gathering would be held at the Reresiord Street Congregational Church on Sunday next, when the Rev. A. C. Xelson would conduct the service.
