TERRITORIALS-RESERVISTS.
GOOD SOUTH ISLAND RESPONSE.

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
Recruiting for the military force* in the South Island has been proceeding at an accelerated pace during the past month. Every unit of the Territorial Army in the Southern Military District ia now tip to peace establishment and many of them are over it. This information wan released by Colonel P. If. Bell, officer commanding the district, this morning.
"At the end of July tho total number of officers and men in all units in the South Island numbered 4015, but that total has been increased to filfiG," he said. "Volunteers for tho National Military Reserve have also been nulling for enrolment forms during the past week. Last Monday morning returns compiled in tho Christchurch military district showed the total number of enrolments was 2310; this morning at nino o'clock tho total was 2(1.11, an increase of .112. The largest increase on any single day of thin week was recorded yesterday when lO.'l enrolments were made. That flgtiro represented the largest daily enrolment since the flrat. I week of the appeal a'id followed a parade of reservists on Wednesday night at] the King Edward Barracks."
