DRAMA FESTIVAL.
PAPAKURA INSTITUTE.
POKENO WINS RICHARDSON CUP.
For the fifth annual drama festival of the Papakura Women's Institute] eight entries were received, coming ftom Pokeno, Waiau Pa (2), Clevedon, Hunua, Auckland and Papakura. The adjudicator was Mr. Frances W. Pa go, of the Auckland Drama Council.^ The awards were: —Pokeno W.D.F.U. 1, Papakura W.L. 2, Waiau Pa D.D.F.U. (two plays) level 3. The Pokeno W.D.F.U. produced "AntiClockwise" and the cast was Mesdamcs J. Scott, A. Gummer, A. Pendergast and Scaton Dean. Papakura's team consisted of Mesdames A. Walker, W. Draper, F. Cossev, A. Beams. W. C. Rankin, H. C. Baulf and Miss Kathleen Cossey. The Waiua Pa representatives were Mesdames Hope and Kettle, Misses G. Hope, C. Smith, D. Learning and E. Votz for "Mary's Dismissal" and Mesdames A. S. Cole, M. G. Brown, H. Hill and the Misses M. Jenkins, E. Learning and I. Ball. The Mayor of Papakura, Mr. S Evans, presented the Richardson Challenge Cup to the winners and also a trophy for the best individual performance to Mrs. J. Scott, of Pokeno, who impersonated "Em-i-lee." Miss Ailsa Cartwright, of Papakura, played all the incidental music; Mr. W. C. Rankin filled the onerous duties of stage manager with wonderful ability and the president of the Papakura Institute, Mrs. H. C. Baulf. was director of ceremonies.
