TRIP ABANDONED.
U.S. OBSERVER ON CLIPPER.
The gravity of the international situation caused Mr. Clinton M. Hester, administrator of the United States Civil Aeronautics Authority, who arrived, in the Clipper on Wednesday as a Government observer of the flight, to cancel his arrangements to leave the aircraft at Auckland.
Mr. Hester had intended to proceed to Sydney by an early steamer aiid return to America by air, catching a 'plane to Marseilles and connecting there with the Yankee Clipper, bound for. New York, by Pan-American Airways' southern route.
He returned his luggage to the Clipper and left with the other observers this morning.
