WOOL TRADE.

DUNEDIN WINTER SALE,

CRUTCHIXG VALUES EASIER.

There was a total offering of 3170 bales at the •winter wool sale held on Friday. 1 here was a good attendance of overseas buyers, local mill representatives and fellmongers, and considering the grave international situation competition exceeded expectations. It was noticeable that fine c-iutchings were slow of sale, and passings ior these grades were frequent. The quality and condition of the crutehings under offer were not up to the standard of last year due to the extreme weather experienced. Crutellings and skirtings comprised the bulk of the catalogue, with some good average lines ot fleece. As compared with northern sales, prices were generally easier for crutehings.

An extra super line of four bales of crossbred crutchings (suitable for the American trade) made ll%d. Any fleece wool forward met excellent competition, and values .were Id to 2d better than the April rates.

The official range of prices was as fol-lows:-Merino, 12% d; half bred, 56-58's, no ( K \ llaltbrp <s- 50-.56'5, lid to Jnui 'i 8 c l l °? sbred ' 10d to 12d: crossbred, iin i° , : cr °ssbred, \OV2d to 12d: Wt A , anc l Pieces, 7Md to B%d; to ? SYDNEY SALES POSTPONED,

SYDNEY, August 28. The Woolselling Brokers' Association has decided to postpone the Sydney wool sales for a week because of the international situation, which, officials consider would attract prices, rendering it difficult to sustain values at the levels ruling at the close of fche Australian June sales, liiis would have an important bearing on future auctions.
