MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.

AUCKLAND CLUB.

Another very successful day wias enjoyed by those members and friends who took part in .the Ixion Cup trial on Sunday hurt. The weather was mainly tine, ■lithough a few cold showers were met during the day. A reasonable entry of 27 was received, and vlie course lc<l' out alon« the Great South Road to Penrose tor a couple of observed sections on a side road, through to the Mount Wellington highway, and back through Otalnilui to Manurewa, after having lunch nt Ho wick. Several sections were conducted ait* the back of the Manurewa townslnp. after which a run was made to the Ma'h 1 a Stream at the end of the Ta.kanini straight.

Whenever the club conducts a water splash at this stream a point is made to always have a traffic inspector on hand to keep the traffic moving. It only requires several people to look over the side of the bridge and one car to stop to cause every car passing through to slow up or stop, geiieral|y in the centre of the road, in the hope of "seeing something." However, as the inspector for that section was busy elsewhere and the stream was flowing too fast even for t>he heaviest machines, the club officials decided to delete the water section altogether. All types of riding are seen on these runs, from over-ca'-efnl to "wild and woolly." Some competitors crawl through at a very slow walking pace, some at about 5 miles per hour, and some accelerate all the way.

The event resulted in a tie for first place between J. Phillips (350 Velocette) and C. Keefe (350 Velocette) with a loss of 21 point's each, and A. B. Twiname (.300 Kudge) was third with 34 points. Twiname also won the novice section of the event.
