MANY FALSE ALARMS.
FERE CAUSES REVIEWED.
Twenty-three of the 73 calls responded to by the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board for the month ended July 31 were proved to be false alarms.
Reporting on this at to-day's meeting of the board, the superintendent, Mr. W. L. Wilson, stated that only nine of the false alarms were malicious.
Foul chimneys and electric faults were responsible for the greatest number of actual fires.
