HARRIER TOURNEY.
INTER-UNIVERSITY EVENT. A. G. KOFOED FIRST HOME. Establishing the record of gaining the first three pluces, the Auckland Universitv College on Saturday afternoon easily won the New Zealand University harrier race of 6| miles. Auckland thus wins the G. i. Dixon trophy. First held in 1934, the event is an annual one between the constituent colleges, and held alternatively in the four university centres. The placings were A. G. Kofoed, Auckland, 37.32, 1; E. Stephenson, Auckland, 38.15, 2; E. IJ. Collins, Auckland, 38.16, 3; D. R. Scrymgeour, Victoria. 38.32, 4 ; A. C. Coombes, Victoria, 38.38, 5; F. C. Allen Canterbury, 38.39, 6. Then came T. E. Dorman, Otago : S. Xewall, Victoria: R. W. Taylor. Canterbury; B. Harden, Auckland; A. McCutchan. Auckland; R. G. Pilling, Otago; W. A. Russell, Otago; R. S. Anderson, Otago. The teams' placings were:— Auckland (Kofoed 1, Stephenson 2, Collins 3, Harden 10), 1(5 points . 1 Otago (Coombes 5. Dorman 7, Pilling 12. Anderson 13), 37 points 2 Victoria (Scrymgeour 4, Xewall 8. de la Mare 10, Henderson 17), 45 points . 3 Canterbury (Allen Taylor 9. Robinson 18, Unwin 21). 54 points .... 4 By winning by a clear 300 yards. Kofoed added to the reputation he has also made for himself in Auckland. The course was in the Mount Roskill district, the starting point being in the Mount Ro.skill football ground. The route then lay over the Three Kings, across to Mount Roskill, over the hill, round back roads behind, with the finishing point on the Mount Albert Road, near the end of the Three Kings lioad.
