PEDIGREE SPANIELS.

CANINE ARISTOCRATS ARRIVE. Specimens of canine aristocracy, in in the persons of two pedigree Clumber spaniels, were received by an Aucklander, Mr. C. A. Whitney, by the steamer Arawa yesterday. They were a gift from his sister, Mrs. E. M. Lewis, of Dorset. Diligence, known as Rutt, is a female, three years old, and Teignworthy Scuttling Sandy, plain Sandy to his intimates, is a dog pup. Although there is no connection in the strain, the female bears strong resemblance to Victoria Beachgrove, a dog imported some years ago from Mr! Whitney's sister. The pup's grandsire, a fine dog from the late King George V.'s kennels, was probably the beat-bred Clumber spaniel in the British Empire. Diligence is well trained, stands well, and has won some notable English iwards. The two animals, who joined the ship at London, will have their names entered in the Auckland Kennel Club. Delivery of the dogs has not yet been taken by Mr. Whitney. Regulations demand that on landing in New Zealand, they must be isolated from other dogs for 60 days, during which time a veterinary surgeon will visit them. They may be kept at the owner's home. They were subjected to a quarantine of several months before leaving- England.
