M.P. IN COURT.
Protests Innocence On Charges
Of Conspiracy.
REMANDED ON £500 BAIL. (Received 9.80 a.m.) SYDXEY, this day. Ronald Bruce Walker, M.L.A., who was arrested on Wednesday night on a countrain in connection with charges against the missing financier, Wookott Forbes, was yesterday charged in the Police Court with having conspired with Forbes and others. He was remanded on bail of £500.
He protested his innocence, and said that as soon as the true position about the affairs of the Scottish Loan and Finance Company, of which he was a director, became known to him, he went to the police, told them what he knew, and gave them every assistance.
Detective-Sergeant Buckley, speaking on the question of bail, said more than 240,000 £1 shares had been issued in the company, which now had very little money left. William Kingsley Wicks, 40, accountant, was also charged with conspiracy.
