MAN-EATING SHARKS.
AT CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION.
TO BE CAUGHT IX AUSTRALIA,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Wednesday,
Australian man-eating sharks are to be a feature of Playland at the Centennial Exhibition. Mr. Harry Seff, manager of the amusement park, in an interview to-day, said any suggestion that the exhibit would not be included among the Playland attractions was incorrect.
A cabled message from Canberra recently stated that the Australian Commonwealth Department of Commerce disclaimed any intention to send live sharks to the exhibition, as reported. The Department agreed with Australian, critics that an exhibition of sharks would Ik? a bad advertisement for the Commonwealth. Mr. Seff said the Department was not concerned with the exhibit. The sharks would not be part of the Australian court, but would be an amusement park exhibit. There had been no alteration in the arrangements.
The sharks are being obtained by arrangement with Australian shark fishermen. They will be caught off the Australian coast and shipped direct to Wellington. fresh specimens beijtg brought down if necessary from time to time during the period of the exhibition. They will he displayed in a 60ft tank, the construction of which has already been begun at Rongotai.
