DIGGERS' BADGES RECORD.
SEVENTH WIN FOR ONEHUNGA.

Although the miserable weather on Saturday gave little promise for enjoyable bowling, the St. Hflier's visitors found the Mangore green quite playable when they went in search of the Jordan Pins, and they were rather lucky to win, as the holders at one stage were nine ahead. However, the challengers gradually overhauled them and started the last end lovcl at 18 all. winning the shot at the nil-important time. Score: H. Percy J Maud. J. Tyndall, R. I he winners are exaetly the same quartet which unsuccessfully played for the Diggers' Badges the previous Saturday, iin<l tin's week they will meet a challenge from K. Xeale (Onohmiffa). The Onehunga soldiers have now beaten tho record For the Diggers' Badges, having seemed on Saturday their seventh win in succession. Fortunately there was little interruption through rain, and the holders made "no race" of it, the scores being: V. W. Haves, J. K. Ross. S. Vella, R. Crcwa (Ouehunga) 34, v. H. Selkirk, H. Cluitt, K. Hagcn. K. f>. Jeffrey (Transport) 9. The noxt challenger!: are Rudkin (Stanley), .Mitchell (Mangere) and Goldsmith (Balmoral). The other inter-club challenge matches stand postponed to the first fine Saturday, when D. C. Fraser (Carlton) will play F. Eshelby (West End) for the Edwin Stars, and J. C. Taplin (Transport) will play W. Chiplin (Rawhiti) for the Denkon Pins. The second afternoon's play in the Balmoral two-Saturday tournament was similarly postponed. Bowlers are hoping for better weather next week, when the school holidays begin, for some clubs have already timed a tournament to suit the many teachers who cannot play at any other time. Epsom has fixed next Tuesday. Onehunga Thursday, and Ellerelie August 29. There is also the monthly tournament at Rawhiti, to be held next Saturday. Last week Rawhiti staged a novelty tournament —for greenkeepers and green superintendents^—and eixteen pairs competed. Another successful innovation at Rawhiti ie the introduction of indoor, bowls for eveninprs and wet afternoons,! the pavilion allowing space for two rinks. I
