BENZINE CAUSES EXPLOSION

OWNEK SUFFERS BURNS.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. An explosion occurred aboard the fishing launch Una soon after she left the Shortland wharf at 4.30 this morning. Over half an hour was epent "by the crew in subduing the flames. Mr. L. Mitchell, the owner, suffered burns to his hands and face, but they are not serious. Benzine caused the explosion, the flames spreading rapidly throughout the covkpit. The nets and fiehing gear were not damaged, but two drums of benzine had to be thrown overboard. The boat was beached in the mangroves off Shelly Beach and the men returned to the wharf in the di-nghy.
