DISMISSAL NOTICES.
THIRTY MEN AFFECTED.
ORE TONNAGE DECLINES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. During the week 30 men. married and single, employed by the Martha Goldmining Company. Waihi, on the surface and underground, have received notice of dismissal, and the matter was considered at an executive meeting of the Miners* Union this morning, when it was decided to take the question up with the replacement officer at Paeroa with a view to the employment of the men under Xo. 13 scheme at Waihi. It
is understood that the company's action is one of retrenchment.
As forecast by the chairman of directors of the Martha Company. Mr. G. 1!. Mitchison. at the last annual meeting, the tonnage of ore available for treatment at the mine has continued to decline.
