CONFERENCE TO MEET.
RAILWAY STRIKE THREAT. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 4. British railway company employees and managers are to confer on the wages issue on October 10, the unions undertaking not to strike while the negotiations are in progress. The men claim an increase of 1/ per day, with 12 instead of six days' annual leave. If the claim is rejected a strike which will involve 53,000 is threatened.
