BUSY MINISTER.

MR. NASH IN LONDON. FINANCIAL DISCUSSIONS. PRIVATE SECRETARY RETURNS Having left England before the negotiations of ihe Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, reached their final stage. Mr. T. R. Aickin, private secretary to the Minister, wTio returned to New Zealand in the Monterey, from .San Francisco, this morning, could only say that the Minister was extremely busy from the day of his arrival in London.

Between the end of May, when he reached Finland, and July S, the day on which Mr. and Mrs. Aickin and Mrs. Nash left again for the Dominion, the

Minister wan engaged almost continuously in meeting deputations. Ministers. •iroups* of businessmen and others in connection with trade and financial discussions, and attending important

functions. Br!ef visits were, however, made to Dublin and Nottingham and to Mr. Nash's home town, Kidderminster, where the Minister had received the

"freedom of the city" on his previous trip to England. He met a group of Kidderminster carpet manufacturers, but was unable to take part in any social engagements there.

"The Minister was too busy to think much of social life," said Mr. Aickin.

• During the negotiations, Mr. Nash was assisted by Dr. R. M. Campbell, economic adviser on the staff of the High Commissioner, and by Mr. R. Sunley, financial officer in the Treasury branch of the High Commissioner's office.
