The Xew Zealand Meat Producers Board ieport on the Smithtield market for the period ended August 3 states:—The tendency of the lamb market, with heavy landings and prospective increasing supplies of 'home-killed, « slightly easier. Wethers are firm, with fair trade. Ewes are quiet, with little change. Frozen beef is firm, with a good remand, (.'hilled beef is easier this week on heavy sunplies and owing to muggy weather. Xew Zealand porker pigs are firm on short spot stocks. Xew Zealand baconer pigs are nominal. Boneless bobby veal is quiet, with prices unchanged. Quotations are: Xew Zealand sheep, ewes, 49/56's, 3%d per lb; Xew Zealand lambs, Canterbury, 37/42's. 6%: second quality, average about 311b, 6%d: other South Island, 37/42's, 6%d; North Island Downs, second quality, average about 301b. 7%d; Argentine lambs, first qualit- not quoted: chilled beef (averages for week), Xew Zealand hinds 5V*&, fores 3d; Australian, 5%d; crops (weights corresponding), 3*4 d; Union South Africa. 5%d and 3%d; Southern Rhodesian, 5%d and 2%d; Argentine, 6%d and 3%d: Uruguayan, 5%d and Brazilian hinds, 5%d; others unchanged.
