ARMED ROBBERS.
CRIME AT GARAGE.
ATTENDANT KNOCKED OUT. £3O IN CASH STOLEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", this. day. After a busy evening, during which numerous motor vehicle owners had purchased petrol in anticipation of the higher charges for petrol, a garage attendant was robbed of about £30 shortly before midnight by two men, who left him unconscious and bleeding. The scene of the hold-up was Sherwin and Morton, Ltd's, service station in Wakefield Street. The attendant, Mr. Charles Williams, of Hay Street, said later that he was cashing up for the night when he was called to the door of the office and confronted by two ir.en. who. he alleged, commanded him, at the point of a revolver, to "hold them up." The men. he alleged, struck him savagely on the forehead. On recovering consciousness, Mr. Williams telephoned the police. He was later taken to hospital, but his condition is not serious.
