NAZI RIDICULE.
BRITISH DEFENCES. Air Raid Steel Shelters Are | A Joke. J PROFESSOR HALDANE'S VIEW.! l United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 10 a.m.) LOXDOX, August 1. "Britain's front-line will be England this time," declaims the Berlin newspaper, "Angrift"," which adds: "It will not be a quiet one." The paper ridicules Britain's A.R.P., and declares that the anti-aircraft artillery is disorganised and the steel shelters are a joke. It estimates that Britain's reserves of raw materials will only last five months. An Independent Cable Service message states that Professor J. B. Halrlane declared be is prepared to sit in a Government steel shelter while a bomb explodes outside in order to rind what
protection the shelters will give during , air raids. j He is convinced that the Government I experts' figures, giving the degree of ! safety provided by the shelters, are all j I wrong. j
