SUSPENDED FROM DUTY

CANBERRA, this day.

It is announced that the Commonwealth Director-General of Works, Mr. A!. W. Mehaffey, and the Commonwealth Works Director in New South Wales, Mr. J. Orwin, have been suspended from duty as a result of charges under the Public Service Act arising out of Saturday's report of the Royal Commission on the contract for the remodelling of the Sydney General Post Office. Their cases will be dealt with by a Departmental committee.
