MORE PROTESTS.
DISAPPROVAL OF CHURCHES
l'rotests asainst events alleged to have occurred at the "Hard-tip Ball' , in the Town Hall arc still being sent forward on behaU of the congregations of various churches. A resolution was passed at a meeting of officials of the l'itt Street Methodist Church on Sunday, stating that, as citizens who cherished the city's reputation, they viewed with grave concern tho fact that such scenes as reported should be permitted ami urjrod that those in authority should take immediate steps to make impossible a rei>etition of such a regrettable occurrence.
A resolution has been pa~~ed by the council of the Baptist Churches,' comprising oflirers of nil Baptist Churches in Auckland, heartily endorsing the protest and appeal of the New Zealand Alliance with regard.-to incidents at the ball. The resolution calls on the City Council to do its utmost to ensure that there shall bo no repetition, and urges the council to dissociate itself from the element responsible for the occurrence*. It is claimed that if the jierson.s alleged to have violated the liquor laws are known they should be punished.
At a meeting of the ministers of the Associated Churches of Christ, held in Auckland yesterday, it was decided irresolution to record a protest against "the disgraceful conduct]' reported to have taken place at. the ball, urging that those responsible for the letting of the Town Hall should use the necessary means to see that there should be no recurrence.
