SALVAGE GEAR ARRIVES. PLAN* FOR UNLOADING CARGO. (By Telegraph.—Press Associntion.) WANGANUI, thie day. Gear in still being brought to Wangaiiiii for use in unloading cargo from the stranded steamer Port Bowon and to assist in attempts to haul the veesel off the beach. Ten lorries, with gear brought from Sydney to Auckland, arrived last night, ft is proposed to run eteel cables from each of the ha tehee of the steamer to unlosd the meat and butter in cradles and swing it aehore direct into lorries. The steamer's refrigerators are working and the cargo is being kept frozen and is in good condition. The personal effects of the crew were brought ashore yesterday. The sea is now moderating and it is hoped to take soundings within a few davrt.
With the departure yesterday of the tugs Terawhiti and Toia for Wellington and the Lyttelton 11. for Lyttelton there will be no further attempts to move t!ie stranded steamer until the cargo has been removed and mushroom anchore
