TROTTING.

TRAINING AT EPSOM. SEVERAL USEFUL TASKS. BLUE CREST'S SMART SPRINT. Although there were a goodly number of horses at Alexandra Park this morning, many of them were only indulged in jogiring exercise. However, several useful tasks were got through, and Blue Crest and Lucky Love ran the last half-mile of a mile and a half task in 1.9. M. Stewart, whose private track at Frankton is unworkable, was present with nine horses—Wishful, Red Flush, Tinker, Fortcx. Belfast Jack, Tsana, Real •Tewel. Worthy Merit, and a novice by Great I'arrish. Stewart intends to train at Epsom until the Auckland Club's meeting on August 26. Bronze King (J. J. Kennerley) and Ainywin fE. N. Kennerley) were together at the end of "a mile and a quarter in 3.4, the last half mile taking 1.11. Lucky Love (C. M. Morrison). Blue Crest (L. Laver) and Monty Chimes (A. Paton) left the mile and a half post on terms, and Lucky Love was showing the way at the end of a mile, which was covered in 2.36. Blue Crest then moved up to the leader, and the pair got over the final half mile in 1.9. Monty Chimes was three lengths away. Glen Bingen and Charteris Bay (A. Cole) spoilt, their effort by going to a break, but Glen Bingen settled quickly and completed a mile and a .quarter in 3.9. Musketeer (S. M. August) and Eighteen Carat (C. Smith) finished on terms at the end of a mile and a half, the last half mile taking 1.11. Musketeer has improved considerably in appearance, and it is likely that he will return to the winning list early in the new season. Eighteen ( a rat is on the burly side, and won't be at his best for some time. F. J. Smith's team got through serviceable tasks, while others to move along were Cla.vpot. Rinestonc, Equipoise, Munga Tangi and Gipsy Light.
