EXCHANGE OF TEACHERS?
NEW ZEALAND AND HAWAII. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUKCH, Wednesday. An exchange of teachers between Honolulu and Xew Zealand is in letters to the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, which Mr. A. R. Blank, headmaster of the Fendnlton School, has brought back with him from superintendents of education in Hawaii. During hie stay in Honolulu Mr. Blank found that while many people were interested in New Zealand few knew anything about it. An exchange of teachers, he said, would provide the Dominion with emissaries in what was one of the world's greatest tourist centres, and while they would learn much that would benefit the children in New Zealand they could in turn pass on the news of their own country. On the day Mr. Blank left Honolulu 3000 school teachers arrived there to spend their three months' vacation. It would have been simple to divert half of that traffic to Xew Zealand, he said, because it would be just ae cheap to travel the longer distance ae to stay in Hawaii, but unfortunately the Dominion had no tourist agent there. Information about New Zealand could be obtained only at the Union Company's office.
