GOLDEN HIND.

LAUNCHED TO-DAY. NEW SCHOONER YACHT. CEREMONY AT OPUA. At high water to-day, shortly before ID a.m., Mr. H. R. .Jenkins' new 90ft schooner yacht was lauuehed from Messrs. Deeming Broc.' yard, opposite Opua, Bay of Islands. The yacht wart christened Golden Hind by Mrs. W. Deeming, the ceremony taking place in the presence of about 100 visitors from Opua, just across the estuary, and Russell.

Work on the yacht was begun over two years ago by Messrs. Deeming Bros, from plans and specifications by Mr. Clias. Bailey, of Auckland, who has made numerous visits to the yacht during the course of construction. After being launched she was towed across to Opua wharf to have her engine lowered into its bed and her masts stepped in position. She will come to Auckland early next month under her own engine power to be fully rigged and finished off. Mr. Jenkins plans to leave Auckland in about two months on a long cruise to the Islands, and on to England.
